My motto is Stay Strong Live Healthy

Movement helps healing. Functional and therapeutic activity that takes place under the guidance of a skilled practitioner, is beneficial on multiple levels. When medical complexities involving multiple organs and systems affect the function of the body, and do not allow you to reach your potential then additional rehabilitation is a safe intervention.

Unfortunately with insurance limitations, the time, amount and type of therapy is dictated by reimbursement rates and network approvals and rejections. That leaves the patient with restricted sessions and curtailed treatment with limited options. You need a licensed and experienced Physical Therapist to facilitate the recovery process on YOUR time, prioritize your personal goals and educate you for your best outcomes. In addition, family and caretaker training involves the team approach to create the best and safest environment for the patient. I work with your doctors, social workers, nurses, home attendants and your family to assist and collaborate for successful outcomes.

You want me on your team!

Beginning with in patient and out patient rehabilitation in a busy hospital center, with additional work in a sports medicine centers since 1989, I learned what grit and determination can do for healing of very sick patients (stroke, amputees, cancer, spinal cord, burn, coma and trauma survivors). Moving into Manhattan to work on athletes in gym-based facilities and then operating three offices under one budget in Manhattan, won me awards and accolades. It was nice, but I wasn't happy running someone else's show. I went into homecare and housecalls because the quality time spent inside the patient's world meant a slowdown of fast-paced centers, with more individualized care. Spending 30-45 minutes of quality time and gearing the session around the patient's life, brings success and progress that was unachievable in a clinical setting.

The challenges I faced are when patients are being discharged from the hospital too swiftly , ending up in nursing homes or back home with insufficient help, or worse- a frazzled, unknowing and incapable spouse. This can and often does, result in secondary problems that could have been avoided (infections, falls, expenses, or poor recovery). We cannot change the hospital system or insurance limitation reimbursement, but we can improve the patient's new situation. I assist with ordering of the most appropriate medical equipment, training new aides and family members for additional caretaking responsibilities and ways to help the patient. By cutting out insurance as the middle man and judging on how to proceed as per the patient's status, has opened up the door for patients to receive the services they want and what they deserve.
